Could it happen?

I’m sitting here at 6:45 PST, looking at the results so far and waiting for the other shoe to drop, and beginning to think it might not. And I can’t begin to be thrilled, but I’m not feeling DOOMED anymore either.

I was VERY concerned about Republicans shenanigans and the last 2 elections, but it appears that the the Dem machine was as well and has managed to keep the crap to a dull roar.

And I was VERY concerned about the Bradley Effect, but it appears that hasn’t won out either.

From the beginning I was saying that if Obama was to win that he would have to win by a really big margin in order to counterbalance these two problems, but it appears SO FAR that the needed margin was achieved……it’s looking better than I dared to hope…..

UPDATE 8:50pm – Wow, looks like a landslide….I’m in awe of the whole thing, and I must also note that McCain was really gracious and cool about it, good for him.

What a great feeling, relief and happiness and pride in our country and it’s ideals…..and what an awesome thing for us to show the world, this is pretty great….plus I don’t have to wonder if I should say I’m Canadian in other countries any more…heh….

Well, this is the announcement that America really IS America, and that because it’s America, it keeps changing and evolving and redefining itself, which of course is that exact reason that it continues confirming itself. Obama’s about to speak…..

None of the Above

Good Job Mr. President Elect! I am able to let go with a small, tentative, sigh of relief. Glad I can remove the batters helmet protecting me from the ultra-right bible bashers, glad I can stow the fire extinguisher and let go of my fear of book burning. Glad women will be able to retain freedom of choice over their bodies. Sorry guys, no womb; no vote, FO!! Glad Americans have seen fit to finally get past this ridicules hurdle of gender and ethnicity. Glad Sarah is going back to Wasilla, if only to pack her bags in ready for Ted Stevens Senate seat. Sarah is like a fly at a picnic, she just will not go away.

I am, however, waiting for the other shoe to drop, from the left side of the spectrum, I will guard my rights and freedoms.

Can I bring my boy home from Iraq now? Please?

STILL

Hmmm…..coupla things, first, if this is who I think it is, (and I don’t know for sure, and even if it’s NOT who I think it is), I also hope your boy comes back safe and soon, I have a small daughter and I can’t even imagine how it must feel to have a child there, I wouldn’t be able to sleep…

In general I agree with your comments, with the exception that I would say that the major infringements on freedoms and rights have been done by the current White House squatters, and that rolling those infringements back should be Job 1, since the freedoms and principles of this country are what define us as America more than anything.

And I will reiterate that Obama is so far just another politician, and I haven’t heard him say ONE WORD about bringing back the freedoms and rights that have been taken over the last few years by Bush, and that concerns me GREATLY.
