New song demo to check out.

Hiyas, I know it probably seems like all I care about is politics, (could be true, but I’m trying to kick it, really I am) I DO still do music, but there’s a lot going on these days for me……anyways….

After much more farking around with equipment the last few, I have a decent demo of a new song to check out…..I know there’s a lot of warts and I’m probably gonna recut the guitars and maybe the bass, but the song is there and I like it quite well….I’m just putting it here as a peek into the gestation period….

To answer some things that will be going through your head as you listen…….drugs, it’s a machine, that IS a french horn, it’s german, and Irene.

And yes I like Pink Floyd….a LOT. And I know what you mean, it’s on purpose.

I have a bunch more in various stages coming up, (I know I always say that, but it’s actually true, hopefully this shows good intent and SOME progress…I know, basically I suck) and this one will mature…….

Thanx for your ears – WB

Very nice. Pretty melodies and great lyrics. It sounds like Irene has made her debut on your song. Great job as usual. I wish we could do the STILL full band thing again with the new materials.

Jol'E

Awesome, lovely – Great sound! You don’t suck ! —— definitely NOT

Billy

Wade….sounds great. Your voice has a John Lennon quality to it. The guitars remind me a bit of Trevor Rabin or David Gilmour.

Jan

Wow…all of these years, I never heard your voice clearly…REALLY nice! I like the song, too. Sorry, but surprisingly impressed, since I’m not familiar with your work. Lovely melody, and I’m sure I’m not the first to say your singing voice is similar to one of those boys from the Mother Country across the seas! Great job, can’t wait to hear more!

STILL

@Dave – yeh me too, but I just wonder where and maybe better why, except that it would be fun….but I keep thinking about a way to do it that wouldn’t cost tons to do….that was a lot of fun….

@Jol’E – how’s it going with Steve’s tracks?

@ Billy – I’ve heard the Lennon thought before, in fact a very accomplished singer/songwriter/tv theme writer friend of mine said that years ago, and I STILL don’t get it – heh (he always said it in connection to when my voice is doubled, like in the chorus of this song)- ….funny you should mention Rabin, I was recently listening to “Owner of a Lonely Heart” and thinking what amazing guitar sounds that guy got in some sections, maybe it snuck into my head, though I’m not happy with the guitar sounds on this song yet….

@ Jan – HEYA JAN!! how are you?

Yeh, I have heard the thing about those guys over there, (see above), and I think that’s about ok with me, not bad to be compared favorably with them I’m thinking….send me your address or call, I’ll send you something to check out….

Wade,
Nothing you’ve ever written has ever sucked. You’re writing always seems to defy the “writing rutt” thing that some of us fall into from time to time and this song proves it. OK. Enough buttering you up!
I can tell that you are getting the best out of your gear. You’ve got that wide sound that I love, and the guitar is ALL you, if you know what I mean. It’s guitar according to Wade. First it grabs you and then it surrounds you in the verses. I’ll bet my bippy that you’re using that koa one on this. (Forgive me for going on and on)
Keep working on the rest of the tunes so we can get the whole picture. They say fine wine takes time, but you already knew that :]

It sounded a bit, just a tiny bit, from the very first listen (the arrangements anyway) like Oasis (late Oasis maybe) or maybe other British band I can’t think of right now. The overall song doesn’t per se…whatever, but not from here in the States. I love british rock by the way, which makes me an expert! :)jk Overall the song is good. I don’t get the John Lennon voice reference by the way, sorry. I get your emails every now and then and mostly your songs are ok. In fact, this is the best I’ve heard from you. Your years of writing have make you write songs that don’t suck. Your recordings are decent (better than mine at least as I don’t do it often). You mentioned you might change this or that, but the song is there. Yes, the song is there and you could dress it up in a thousand different ways but it won’t make a difference, the song is there already. I do miss a solo. Though not necessary they are a great way of adding a different idea or…to the song. I’m sure you know this of course. Love those PF soloes and tones. Music is the universal language, some people are more ‘fluent’ than others. We express different things in the melodies we write and sing. Some people express ideas or thoughts better than others as their musical vocabulary is richer and reaches at different levels. Lyrics are just icing in the cake, without great melodies they are nothing. Keep it up and good luck.

Wade,

A HUGE smile etched me face when the first chords punched up on my iMac! Nice melodic structure, and just a really nice tune all around. I could see where someone might think it’s a little Gilmourish (ist 1978 solo record, perhaps) And yeah, I could hear a liittle Lennon in the sound of your voice in certain passages but that’s always been there and what’s wrong with that???? Overall, it just sounds like another excellently crafted Wade Biery tune is all, and DEFINITELY nothing the matter with that.

I’ll have to give it a few more listens but my first reaction is I could do without the literal “voices” in your head, i.e. the background voice (even if it is your daughter’s?) might be a tad distracting from the melody. Just myyyyy humble opinion…..

I’ll be looking forward to hearing the evolution of this one. Thanks a LOT for sending it!

Wade,

Can the term “thought leader” be applied to musical composition? Your writing continues to be characterized by an unerring “emotional intelligence” that I have heard elsewhere only rarely – this latest effort is no exception.

The world is a better place because of what you are doing.
