Here’s some free stuff fer ya!

FREE STUFF - gotta like that headline…..

A bit ago I sent out an email asking if people would like to have Non-vocal versions of my cds, which I’ve been putting together for some licensing things I’m doing and thought maybe some folks would be into it. Well it turns out a whole lot of people are into that, so I put it together, and I have a download of it for you ready to go.

Download it here.
(Right-click and “save”, or control-click and “save”)

I gotta say, most of these tracks sound really good as instrumentals, and a large number of them sound AMAZING, I was kinda stunned how good they sound. Standouts are “The Lady’s Song”, “Blessed”, “Rainbows” and several others, these tracks sound ridiculously good to me, I think you’re gonna really like this, maybe more than you would think…….

I’ve also stuck into the download packet a song that I did as a kinda spur of the moment thing….it just popped out of my head one day like I was invaded by an alien, and although it’s VERY not what I normally do, it’s also really kinda cool, and I think you might like that as well, it’s called “A Walk in the Sunshine”. Very stream of consciousness lyric, very odd vocal sound and style (after a late night playing morning voice mixed with a vibe I was getting into that day)……it’s pretty out of left field, check it out.

A coupla other things…….you may have noticed I’m not really doing a lot in the “STILL” world, and that’s not really an accident. I’ve been doing other things a lot lately, and I’m finding that “STILL” as it has been going for some time now is not as interesting to me as it used to be. While putting together these mixes for the non-vocal versions I kinda re-discovered how much I loved the music I was doing at those times, they’re like children to me, (Ok, now that I have a child I can actually say Not Really, but kinda like pets you really loved or so), and I’ve missed them a little, but it’s good to have them out of the house as well. I’m NOT saying I won’t do any other STILL type thing in the future, in fact I think it’s very likely I will, but I’m into some other things right now that are very interesting to me……..

So what are they….?

I’m in a band that is yet to be named or announced officially, and all I’m going to say about it is that the guys are truly awesome players with killer backgrounds, the songs and style are very different and yet somehow familiar, it’s kinda difficult to describe, and that when we all get in a room, it’s like we’ve played together for years, yet in some of the guys cases we literally met only days before recording, but it just works and sounds really amazing. Every one of these guys impresses me in different ways, even the one I’ve known for most of my adult life has surprised me in this project………things are moving along very nicely and I hope to be more specific and have something for you to hear fairly soon, possibly summer’s end-ish or so (there’s people in the band that are doing a lot of touring right now, so we have to make time when we can)……

I’ve been doing a lot of playing and writing for different things, if you’ve heard the new Amy Grant song “She Colors My Day”, Amy Grant - She Colors My Day - EP - She Colors My Day that’s me on bass on that, (cool video here) I’ve been doing a bunch of work for people’s recordings over the Internet from my studio here, I love that the tech has allowed us to be anywhere and still feel connected as musicians (though nothing beats playing together, and probably never will)…….Awhile back you may have seen me mention a band called “SilverMoney” that I played on the tracks for the record, I have high hopes for the CD, it’s really slamming “female singer rocking Evanescence meets something that keeps trying to punch somebody” type stuff that I really had a blast recording with my old friend Kelly Moneymaker and my newer friend Dan Silver - check it out here. And some writing I’ve been doing has been focused at more TV/film type work, and a lot of it is surprising me with how fun it is and how cool a lot of it comes out.

I’m doing something coming up that’s SO FUCKING COOL that I’m not even gonna talk about it, but it’s amazing and I’m very excited, and I will tell I promise……but not right now….and no, you probably won’t guess….but you can try, you never know…..but to have such awesome friends who put me into some truly amazing things, I’m pretty lucky.

Ok, enough gabbing, throw money at me through PayPal (still@stillmusic.com - at PayPal) if you like the new version and want to put my girl through college because of it, or just want to give me a dollar….I’ll take it….of course you MUST follow me on twitter because everything I say is SO INCREDIBLY INTERESTING……..

I’ll talk at ya soon, keep having a ball, I know I am/will….

BITE BACK THAT STUPID FACEBOOK (MySpace…etc…) POST!!

May 20th, 2009

Full disclosure, I do it too. All the time, so don’t think I don’t know that I’m right in there with everyone on this….

You’re sitting there thinking “I haven’t “said” anything on Facebook for a while, if I don’t people will “forget” me, so I better keep myself visible”……as though you’ll be “missed” in that endless avalanche of posts…..

Or you’re some kind of artist/musician/creative who has read one of those books telling you the “Path to Success and Riches” lies on social networks, (never mind that by the time the book comes out, the info is already obsolete, if it was EVER true, since what they are trying to do is “get rich from Facebook” - by selling you their dumbass book, cause they couldn’t make it happen by doing the things you just paid them to tell you to do).

Or (this is me BTW), you’re seriously political and really think everyone really NEEDS to know something you’re pretty sure they don’t already know…….even if the reason they don’t know it is because they don’t give a shit…..but of course then you KNOW they SHOULD, so you post it anyway……..like an asshole…

So far in just the last few minutes I’ve been looking at the site, people have posted about -

  • their jog
  • their sign
  • their sales goals (and maybe YOU’D like to buy something)
  • their lyrics
  • that they are killing weeds
  • that they’re not “gonna stop till they get enough” (WTF?!?!)
  • that they love spring weather
  • that they are going to clean their gutters
  • that they have completed yet ANOTHER quiz (it seems EVERYONE on Facebook is just DYING to know what they think/know/feel about every conceivable thing in life, but apparently they need to take a quiz to find out just exactly what it is they think/know/feel).
  • a “Da Vinci code” type series of numbers, (I guess we’re supposed to spend time figuring out what it might mean)

Etc etc etc….you get the point, just random shit that absolutely NO ONE cares to read when someone else posts it, but everyone thinks will be interesting when THEY post it.

But it’s not.

In fact it’s just as boring, irritating, pathetic, ill-informed, or whatever you think when you see someone else do it…..when YOU do it…..

Even this post is all those things, I just feel like I need to say it. And that I have the right to make you read it. Man I’m an asshole….

Funny, I’ve recently had conversations with some good friends about how I need to edit myself more, I tend to say what I think and it has cost me over the years, as well as hurt people when I wasn’t trying to…..and OH BLAH BLAH BLAH, shut the fuck up Wade willya?!!

See what I mean? It’s just keyboard diarrhea, and everyone knows it but you, unless they are doing it, then it’s REALLY INTERESTING.

But it’s not.

Here’s what a friend says about Faceboook, from a chat we’re having while I write this -

ME - I’m writing the meanest Facebook post about Facebook posting…I’m gonna be hated

HIM - nice, I rant about Facebook to everyone.

ME - Facebook is great used well, and a torture chamber the rest of the time

HIM - When people ask me if I have a Facebook acount i say this…

HIM - “I do not have a Facebook account, and I’ll give you $20 RIGHT NOW to cancel yours.”

ME - And no takers?

HIM - nope

HIM - people are addicts

ME - yeh

HIM - I’ll do one when I have a band name.

HIM - but not personal

HIM - Some fuck from highschool contacting me is my biggest fear.

ME - I’m gonna cut and paste your story in this post

HIM - please do.

HIM - Calling BMI for royaltys

ME - Eat a knife

(BTW, this guy is a serious death-metal industrial type shredder guy, but as far as I know has not one tattoo, and looks like a tall skinny version of Clark Kent. Go figure….)

Leaving aside all the Big Brother implications of putting every single little thought that flies through your head and every mundane boring thing you do in the day, out there for anyone to read, as well as entering it into a massive database of info about yourself that never goes away and grows every time you post, leaving all that aside…..if someone else writes it, do you think it’s interesting? Really? And since you probably don’t, why do you think it’s interesting when YOU do it?

I don’t get it……except when I do it, because then I KNOW that you need to know what I want to tell you, like this post.

I know a bunch of people are probably not gonna like what I’m saying here, and in a way I’m sorry about that, I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings, especially my friends who read this and will sometimes see themselves in it and think I’m talking about them specifically, (and I might be).

But in another way I feel like I have to do it, because if I don’t I’ll either have to start blocking a bunch of people’s posts, or just stop using Facebook entirely, because I can’t sift through this shit any more. And the bummer is that then I’ll miss the sometimes VERY interesting and useful things that DO get listed….I DO want to know about your gig, (I might be looking for something to do that night), or that your Mom just died (it looks like my uncle just had a stroke), or that you just figured out you’re gay, (…….ok, I don’t have an example for that one), or any number of things that really ARE interesting, or important, or that I didn’t already know.

It’s a huge time-waster, and in the end I’m starting to wonder if everyone’s lives are really that boring and mundane to begin with, or if Facebook is MAKING their lives that way. Either way I just can’t get excited about emptying litter boxes or what a quiz says about the numerology of your name, it’s just Vaseline on the lens of life for me.

Except for this post, it’s REALLY interesting and exceptional and everyone should read it, because I WROTE IT!!

Get my CD’s for REALLY cheap!! Swap-A-CD promotion/IWantMoreMusic!!

April 22nd, 2009

So you’ve always wanted copies of my CD’s, but don’t really use the CD format anymore or don’t want to pay full pop, or haven’t heard enough to know if you would like it (how did you escape them?), well I have the answer!

still.swapacd.com

Right now I am really into grabbing up some new stuff myself, and I can’t STAND mp3’s unless they are REALLY high rez, which almost all vendors don’t use (highest I think is Amazon @ 256 - which is KINDA ok, but really still blows), so I always want the original CD if I can get it……but like maybe you, I think they are too expensive in this market, and it irks me that the majors continue to insist on an outdated model that has GOT to change….so here’s what I’m up to and how it might be good for you as well….

I signed up at Swap-A-CD.com, and posted my 2 CD’s there as available. These are brand new in the shrinkwrap CD’s just as if you bought them from a store or me, and they will be sent directly to you from me as if you’d bought them, but you only pay the .49 cent fee from Swap-A-CD, seriously!

In order to begin, you have to list 10 CD’s that you probably don’t want anymore anyway, then you get a credit to grab a CD (from me of course - natch), and you search for either “STILL - The Distance”, or “STILL - I don’t mind”, and grab them! As of this writing, I’m the only one posting them there, so you’re gonna get them from me…….and if you don’t see them when you check in, then check right back, since I can’t list multiple copies of the same CD for some reason. So as soon as one goes out I’ll repost another to get it back in circulation.

I’m going to try this with 25 copies of each CD, if it goes well and everyone seems to like it then I may do more…..

You may be wondering “aren’t you just giving your stuff away?’, and the answer is not really, since every CD I send out I get a credit to grab something there myself, and I pay only the .49 cents just like you. Yeh I’m paying the shipping to you, but someone else will pay the shipping to me for the stuff I order, so what it boils down to is that I’ll be getting CD’s for like $2 per, and you’ll be getting my AWESOME CD’s for .49 cents. And to be honest, almost ALL of my sales these days are from iTunes and streaming services, which are great, but if you’re like me, you want the high rez real deal at some point, this is a good way to get it!

BEAT THAT!!

Chances are good that once you check out the site, you’ll find other things you want, and this thing will be a real moneysaver for you and new music, so CHECK IT OUT, this is a pretty good deal!!

Regarding Torture (and prosecutions)

April 21st, 2009

This guy gets it just right, check it out!

Obama - some more business as usual..gross.

April 10th, 2009

Obama is a corporate guy.

Period.

In these videos the assertion is that Obama is keeping Bush’s policies in regards to secrecy and executive power intact, simply to appease the U.S. intelligence community and keep them on his side, (?!?!? - What other side would they be on?), but I personally feel he doesn’t want to open the can of worms that Olbermann talks about at the start of the fist vid, which is to NOT discuss any arrangements that the U.S. government and a private company may have had in matters of National Security.

Then he goes on to actually EXPAND the Executive powers Bush claimed, on TOP of what Bush’s people did! And Obama’s background is in CONSTITUTIONAL LAW!!

It’s insane.

I would argue that not being open about this MASSIVELY illegal snooping on the American Public is WAYYYYY more threatening to our National Security than any disclosure would be, especially when you consider that very likely the most damaging thing likely to come up with the release of this info would be the amount of lying and the level of illegality that the government and ATT actually participated in.

Of course there could also be effects in other relationships that the government may have that would be exposed or jeopardized, Blackwater certainly comes to mind as one that might be interesting to get some hindsight into, and that’s something I’m SURE they don’t want to get into….the examination of private contractor’s roles in taking actions the government can’t or doesn’t want to do.

I STILL think that Obama is a HUGE positive change overall, but this thing is one of the worst areas of Bush’s reign, and further coverups and continuance of these policies has got to be stopped. The wound must be uncovered, cleaned, disinfected, and the offending parties held up to the light, not only to show that we as a country will NOT stand for such behavior under any circumstances, but also that the rule of law DOES apply to everyone, all the time. Otherwise laws are only for some people, some of the time, and that’s not the kind of system I want to live under…you?

Remember, you can support him and many or most of his policies, and STILL push back against this stuff, and you really HAVE to. He has taken Bush’s worst transgressions to a new level, it cannot be allowed.

TWITTER

April 7th, 2009

Ok, I’ve been assimilated, and I now have a Twitter account.

Hard to say what I think about it yet……it seems to me that people are beginning to spend more time talking about what they’re doing than actually spending time DOING….

I can see how that happens, but there’s only so much time in a day….and there’s lot to do……..of course I can waste time with the best of them, lemme tell ya…

Here’s a great YouTube on this -

So follow me dammit, I have NOBODY following me…..I feel useless and alone…..ok I don’t, but follow me so I can check this thing out……

The Big Takeover, you really NEED to read this!

March 21st, 2009

On the heels of my post about “Economic Terrorism”, I see this article by Matt Taibbi, (who I hold in high regard for his temperament, intelligence, and willingness to call assholes “ASSHOLES” to their face), describing the same thing, but from different angles, and in MUCH better depth and articulation. If you don’t understand what’s happening with the “Bailout”, you will after reading his article….maybe after you read it twice, it’s DEEP…..

Here’s a brief bit of it to give you the taste of what he’s onto…

People are pissed off about this financial crisis, and about this bailout, but they’re not pissed off enough. The reality is that the worldwide economic meltdown and the bailout that followed were together a kind of revolution, a coup d’état. They cemented and formalized a political trend that has been snowballing for decades: the gradual takeover of the government by a small class of connected insiders, who used money to control elections, buy influence and systematically weaken financial regulations.

The crisis was the coup de grâce: Given virtually free rein over the economy, these same insiders first wrecked the financial world, then cunningly granted themselves nearly unlimited emergency powers to clean up their own mess. And so the gambling-addict leaders of companies like AIG end up not penniless and in jail, but with an Alien-style death grip on the Treasury and the Federal Reserve — “our partners in the government,” as Liddy put it with a shockingly casual matter-of-factness after the most recent bailout.

And…

…..”They basically asked them to spend a day and check to see if they could raise the money privately.” The laughably short time span to complete the mammoth task made the answer a foregone conclusion. At the end of the day, the bankers came back and told the government officials, gee, we checked, but we can’t raise that much. And the bailout was on.

And…..

The state is now being asked not just to call off its regulators or give tax breaks or funnel a few contracts to connected companies; it is intervening directly in the economy, for the sole purpose of preserving the influence of the megafirms. In essence, Paulson used the bailout to transform the government into a giant bureaucracy of entitled assholedom, one that would socialize “toxic” risks but keep both the profits and the management of the bailed-out firms in private hands. Moreover, this whole process would be done in secret, away from the prying eyes of NASCAR dads, broke-ass liberals who read translations of French novels, subprime mortgage holders and other such financial losers.

And…..

None other than disgraced senator Ted Stevens was the poor sap who made the unpleasant discovery that if Congress didn’t like the Fed handing trillions of dollars to banks without any oversight, Congress could apparently go fuck itself — or so said the law. When Stevens asked the GAO about what authority Congress has to monitor the Fed, he got back a letter citing an obscure statute that nobody had ever heard of before: the Accounting and Auditing Act of 1950. The relevant section, 31 USC 714(b), dictated that congressional audits of the Federal Reserve may not include “deliberations, decisions and actions on monetary policy matters.” The exemption, as Foss notes, “basically includes everything.” According to the law, in other words, the Fed simply cannot be audited by Congress. Or by anyone else, for that matter.

And….

Another member of Congress, who asked not to be named, offers his own theory about the TARP process. “I think basically if you knew Hank Paulson, you got the money,” he says.

I urge you to read this….because no matter how pissed off you are, it’s not enough. If people were angry in the amount that this crime requires, there would be no physical place these criminals could hide that would stop the crowds from finding and punishing them.

Yes, I mean that.

And by the way, Obama is NO Liberal, he’s helping these guys as we speak - read this for more info. I still like him and he’s GOT to be better than what we had, but a lot of people are making a mistake about who he is, and they need to look a little closer. HE never said he was anything other than what he’s turning out to be, it’s everyone else that’s putting that on him.

The public record shows Dodd authored an amendment that would have prevented “any bonus” being paid to top executives of firms getting bailout money. It was the White House and the Treasury Department that insisted Dodd’s amendment be watered down to apply only to bonuses paid under agreements signed in the past five weeks. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has taken public responsibility for that.

You HAVE to read the article.

Economic Terrorism

March 20th, 2009

So what’s more “terroristic”, flying planes into buildings, or bankrupting and ripping off an entire country of it’s economic health and foreseeable future well being?

Yeh I know, by a strict definition, it’s always related to violence or the threat of violence……here’s Merriam-Webster’s entry on it -

Main Entry: ter·ror·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈter-ər-ˌi-zəm\
Function: noun
Date: 1795

: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion
— ter·ror·ist Listen to the pronunciation of terrorist \-ər-ist\ adjective or noun
— ter·ror·is·tic Listen to the pronunciation of terroristic \ˌter-ər-ˈis-tik\ adjective

But what about “Societal Violence”, or psychological violence against an entire country or culture?

It was argued that the attacks of 9-11 were attacks against our culture or our ideals, but in fact they were largely unsuccessful in changing or threatening those things to any great extent. They were more successful in undermining (with the Bush administration’s full complicity) the civil rights and Constitutional underpinnings of our country, but largely they didn’t and couldn’t really change our basic day to day life.

On the other hand, the recent economic attack against the common citizen of this country has been profoundly successful, both in terms of effective results as well as the terrorist effects of the attack. With the full complicity of the past and current administrations, this attack has been the most successful looting of the future hopes and dreams of the citizens of the Western World that has ever been perpetrated in modern times, and perhaps ever.

It sounds like hyperbole, but the numbers make hyperbole seem understated…..TRILLIONS of dollars, not millions, not billions…..TRILLIONS!

I dunno, maybe I’m just wildly cynical or negative, but when this level of incompetency is displayed by some of the smartest people on the planet, I have a hard time believing them when they basically say it’s not their fault and the system let us down……that’s just not credible.

What’s much more credible to me is that they knew EXACTLY what they were doing, and they also knew how the government would respond (or perhaps even decided how the government would respond, see my post here for more info on that, look for the bit about Paulson and his history), and figured out a way to not only dodge the entire bullet, but also how to make a run on the largest source of money on the planet, the U.S. Treasury, AND keep all the bonuses, not tell anyone where the money is going, NOT lend the money back out as intended, essentially they’ve just TAKEN all our money - REALLY!!

It wasn’t enough to game the “system” in the favor of large institutional investors, it wasn’t enough to game the tax system in favor of the very rich, it wasn’t enough that the top 1 percent of Americans have more money per capita than they had had since just before the Great Depression, no - they needed MORE!

And to the detriment of who?

YOU!!

If you’re not one of those top 1 percent of the country, then you are getting hit, hard.

Maybe you’re homeless now -

As many as 3.4 million Americans are likely to experience homelessness this year – a 35 percent increase since the recession started in December 2007 – and a majority will be families with children, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. The predictions are based on rising levels of unemployment and poverty, plus a severe shortage of affordable housing created, in part, by the mortgage industry collapse.

Maybe you’re unemployed -

According to yet another depressing data release out of the Bureau of Labor Statistics this week, every state and the District of Columbia recorded both month-over-month and year-over-year unemployment rate increases in December.

(or maybe you’re homeless because you’re unemployed…..)

Maybe your financial future has been ransacked -

The net worth of American households fell 9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008, the largest amount in more than a half century of record keeping, the Federal Reserve said Thursday. The decline was the sixth straight quarterly drop in net worth, which represents total assets, such as homes and checking accounts, minus liabilities, such as mortgages and credit card debt. [1] The Federal Reserve said Thursday that household net worth dropped by a record 9 per cent from the level in the third quarter. The decline was the sixth straight quarterly drop in net worth and underscored the battering that U.S. families are undergoing in the midst of a steep recession with unemployment surging and the value of their homes and investments plunging. Net worth represents total assets such as homes and checking accounts minus liabilities like mortgages and credit card debt.[2]

Maybe you’re “upside-down” on the major investment of your life, your home -

An increasing number of U.S. homeowners are underwater in their homes — meaning they owe more than the property is worth.

In 2008, U.S. residential property shed $2.4 trillion in value, which left 8.3 million mortgages in what experts describe as “a negative equity position.” That’s 20 percent of all mortgages in the country, according to First American CoreLogic.

And all this before the “other shoe” drops -

U.S. credit card defaults rose in February to their highest level in at least 20 years, with losses particularly severe at American Express Co (AXP.N) and Citigroup (C.N) amid a deepening recession.

Look, we all know all the problems we’re facing as a result of this attack, but of all the problems we have, maybe the biggest is that we’re not looking at this thing as what it is……AN ATTACK, and unless we do, we will be subject to it again and again (assuming the country as it stands even survives this one, which is in doubt).

You watch, these people, having been successful in making the country swallow this giant financial rape, will be back with their hands out on this credit card thing, mark my words. And yet those at the top will keep their bonuses, keep their homes and jobs and private schools and mansions etc………and none of them will pay for their exemplary incompetence, because it wasn’t incompetence, it was greed and has been all along.

And yes, you may have guessed that I think this was planned, and that it wasn’t a mistake.

There is a type of person in the world that is driven by acquisitiveness, and that drive to acquire cannot be satiated by successful acquisition, in fact it cannot ever be satiated as long as there is something out there in the world that they don’t own……maybe it’s like a game to them, I don’t know. But I do know they aren’t going to stop just because people are getting hurt, that’s not important to them……what’s important is taking what they see as being “on the table”. So if someone else has something, it’s on the table….and therefore a target. Collateral damage is looked at as being unfortunate but unavoidable, as in “It’s a Dog eat Dog world son, didn’t you know that?“.

Here’s some fun stuff - Hedge funds could reap billions from AIG -

$160 million in bonuses to AIG executives? Try billions in dollars slated to be paid by AIG to hedge funds.

The massive now mostly-government owned insurer American International Group is slated to shell out billions of dollars to hedge funds that bet against the US housing market, according to documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal.

As to government complicity (this obviously isn’t a whole list, these links are simply examples) - Senate quietly stripped measure restricting bonuses from bailout legislation

A new revelation in the scandal surrounding AIG’s decision to pay multi-million dollar bonuses to executives — a provision that would have restricted companies receiving federal government bailout aid from paying bonuses was quietly stripped from a bill last month.

Bush Presidency - HUGELY successful. Really.

February 1st, 2009

It all just depends on what you think the point was.

If you think it was running the country well and making us all safe from terror and advancing America’s agenda in the world and creating peace and prosperity in our country etc…..well…..I don’t want to call you a mutt, but everyone else in your family is covered in hair all over their body. And you look like a werewolf, except on all fours….

But if you think that it was about pulling TONS of money out of the general population and giving it to seriously rich people, well then you get the kewpie doll…..

I’ve been saying it all along, this guy NEVER had any other intention, from day one.

The 21st century Gilded Age party really got going before the U.S. economy went bust.

It was a party disproportionately enjoyed by high-income Americans, the 400 wealthiest of which actually doubled their share of all U.S. income between 1996 and 2006, new statistics released by the Internal Revenue Service show.

and

The 400 richest U.S. taxpayers in 2006 paid slightly more than $18 billion in U.S. government income taxes in 2006 — an average of $45 million — on a record $105 billion in total income.

If you voted for this guy, you are now reaping what you sowed.

Thanx for that….assholes.

Even if he DID steal those elections, you’re still to blame for getting him close enough to get away with it.

And he did steal BOTH elections BTW.

They DOUBLED their income, you jingoistic Rush Limbaugh listening bovine cud munching WalMart shopping arguing for your own demise Vampire food.

Your license to vote shoulda come with a test.

How’s unemployment treating you?

Got an SUV?

Gas oughta stay cheap for another….oh….what time is it now…?

Month or two more maybe?

What these people are doing now can only be looked at as SWILLING down the money, it’s gone WAY past just a massive cash grab, they’re into naked rolling in it and insane wide-eyed running down the street giggling….even THEY don’t know what to do with THAT much money….

Maybe try and find another country they can buy, this one’s used and abused and not interesting any more…..they’ve sucked it dry…..I’m thinking Dubai, but that’s just because that’s where they’re all moving now….

Ain’t Nobody hits another high point!

January 21st, 2009

Ok, Ok, it’s not REALLY a Big Deal, but my song Ain’t Nobody is Number 1 at Ourstage.com for I guess the month of January. Its good because it’s a listener’s vote thing there, and I haven’t even been there for months, so it’s not like I went out and politic’ed the votes, the listeners there just liked it all on it’s own, which on the web is the only thing I actually trust.

So it’s not a Big Deal, but it is cool and I’m happy about it!

New song I’m working on

January 20th, 2009

Here’s the original version of a song I’m working on now….”I Never Meant to Make You Cry” by Peter Klimes. This is Peter doing it so well I wonder why I would, but he sings it an octave lower than me so I’ll use that as an excuse……

Peter played the “ghosty” guitars on “Blessed” off of my first CD, and he’ll be playing on this version of his song as well…Thanx Peter!!

If Bush and his people admit that they ok’ed using torture (and they do admit it), and we have a law specifically forbidding it, even under the circumstances Bush et al describe as being the reasons they ok’ed it (and we do)…..and the Obama administration says that the acts used constitute torture (and they have), then they HAVE TO prosecute everyone involved, end of story.

“As a matter of fact,” Bush added, “I told the country we did that. And I told them it was legal. We had legal opinions that enabled us to do it.”

Hmmm…..legal “opinions” eh?

Sorry, “opinions” are not laws, that’s why they are called “opinions”, and laws are called “laws”. A law is….well…a LAW! And everyone has to adhere to it’s standard. And opinions…..well…they are like assholes, everyone has one, and for the most part, nobody else cares about anyone else’s. Unless you happen to be getting waterboarded by the Bush administration, then you probably wish they had a different “opinion”.

Here’s a more detailed and referenced article, but the bottom line is, all the criteria for prosecution is in place, if Obama does NOT prosecute, then he will be breaking the law as well, and will “own” part of the crime as an co-conspirator.

Now I like Obama in general, ( though as I’ve said before, he’s HARDLY a liberal or anything even close to it), but it’s time to get our legal bearings set straght again in this country. And screw “moral”, this is simple unbiased no point of view LAW BREAKING we’re talking about, not some “morality” that’s open to debate or subjective interpretation. This is objective, court-testable “you broke the law, and in this country NO ONE is above the law, for ANY reason“.

Now maybe they wouldn’t be found guilty (!?!?!?!?), but THEY MUST BE TRIED FOR THE CRIMES!

A precedent (if you can call it that) must be set, that no matter who you are, or your justifications, or the political climate at the time, or what’s expedient, or what the other side will do if you do it, the bottom line is that THE PUBLIC has the right to have it’s leaders held to the same standards they themselves must adhere to. And future political leaders and their administrations must know that they WILL be held to account for their actions. You break the law, you get to go to court to have a conversation about it. Maybe (probably) you get off, but the public has the right to see it all, and to make sure the law is equal, and no one is above it. Not even the people who make it.

If you want to keep these people under control, you have to force them, otherwise they will own you every time.

Here’s an excellent bit on this from a constitutional law professor..

Here’s more from the same professor -

Here’s a UN investigator speaking about the treaty and what we have to do about it.

“We have clear evidence,” he said. “In our report that we sent to the United Nations, we made it clear that former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld clearly authorized torture methods and he was told at that time by Alberto Mora, the legal council of the Navy, ‘Mr. Secretary, what you are actual ordering here amounts to torture.’ So, there we have the clear evidence that Mr. Rumsfeld knew what he was doing but, nevertheless, he ordered torture.”

Wow.

The arrogance is unbelievable….and remember, the Federal Reserve is NOT a Federal institution, it’s group of private banks. Yeh, really. There’s some woofing around by the Fed on this ownership issue, (shocker) but it’s a privately owned set of institutions.

Ann Coulter…..Really? Ann fucking Coulter?!?!?!

January 13th, 2009

OK.

If you listen to, agree with, quote from, or even watch on TV for more than 30 seconds this cloven-hooved, needs a sandwich toilet shark, then you can’t breathe the same air as me. You are excluded from conversations and are hereby sentenced to be a servant in Crawford TX for the rest of your days.

The listing of Ann Coulter’s lies is long and heinous, so I won’t go into them here when so many others have done such a great job of it, BUTT……I will give you Keith Olbermann’s always funny yet always sharp and relevant take on it.

I’m frankly stunned that anyone listens to or puts up with this person….and I got to thinking why anyone would….what I come up with is that she gives voice to a seething type of illogical, emotionally charged, and bone-deep hatred and bigotry that still exists in heaps and gobs in our country. The kind of people that agree with Ann Coulter kick the crap outta their dogs when Obama wins, or Franken wins, or a black family moves in down the street, or any number of things happen that fuels their impotent rages and prejudices, their fear and their ignorance, their cowardice and their hypocrisy. Or they want to have sex with her (AACCCKKKKK!!! PTOOEY PTOOEY!!).

That she gets air time to promote books, and is paid to speak anywhere other than SNL, is a shocking and total indictment of our media system and any pretense of “NEWS” and or “JOURNALISM”. If Ann Coulter has ever been on your tv show or appeared on your network, or if you refer her in any other way than with derision or contempt, then you don’t have a right to call yourself a NEWS network or a JOURNALIST. You are a carnival barker and you work at the big top, nothing more.

Infotainment indeed…..what’s entertaining about watching a shrill hysterical asshole raving lunacies at the top of her lungs while shouting down every voice of reason within 10 city blocks? If I wanted to see/hear that I can go down to Hollywood and follow the guy who has had a running violent disagreement with his hand at the top of his lungs for the last 30 years, at least he’s consistent, (and he’s probably right about all the injustices his hand has perpetrated on him, Coulter’s ravings have little or no basis in fact).

She’s an entertainment personality you jingo-junkies, nothing more. If you hear it like it’s your bible, you’re a sheep. Sheople…..(haven’t used that one for awhile, but always loved it).

Anyways, if you are one of those people, get away from me. You have a sickness of the mind that appears to be contagious and I want no part of it. I’ve seen “Invasion of the BodySnatchers” and “28 Weeks Later”, I know what’s wrong with you.

Get thee behind me Satan, for your breath is bad and I like to keep that kind of smell closer to my butt, where it belongs.
