McScum and the blatant stupidity of some people…..

August 15th, 2008

So McCain’s people have put a video out, which basically hints that Obama might be the Anti-Christ.

No, I’m not f**king kidding.

The action of putting the ad out there means a coupla things…

  • McCain’s people think that some people will be swayed into voting for McCain because they believe it’s possible or even true.
  • They’re probably right.
  • McCain's people call it tongue in cheek, and humorous.......here it is, what do YOU think they are trying to do with this?

Let’s look at this in more detail….

Are there people who think that Obama is or could be the Anti-Christ?

    No f**king way….right…..?

Well, oops, turns out there are a whole bunch of them. On this site there is a poll asking if Obama is the Anti-Christ, as I write this only 28% say definitively no. The rest say yes or could be, with 48% saying he IS.

I could ask my boots a question and get a smarter answer than that.

    I’m sorry, is that rude?

Lemme see now….is it rude to call people who believe that a demon, from HELL, will come to the Earth in the guise of some sort of leader, rise to a very powerful position and then be really mean to everyone and make them watch Faux News and listen to PocaHaunted for hours until they scream in agony and drive railroad spikes into their ears……is it RUDE to say these people are complete f**king morons?

When they not only say that, but that the entity in question is in fact BARACK OBAMA!?!?!?, is it rude to then mention that they might be crack-smoking vegetables with the IQ of a mic stand and the common sense of a can of motor oil?

If not, then what would it take to put that label on someone….for that someone to say it’s NOT true? THEN would that person be dumber than a wet paper sack?

I mean seriously, either there’s an Anti-Christ coming or there’s not, and if there is, it’s either it’s Barack Obama or it’s not yeh?

How crazy and medieval do you have to be to believe this crap?

Well, here’s a quote from the sane and rational person that has started the above mentioned blog -

    Barack Obama the Antichrist?

I am not an extremist, I do not believe every site I have linked to, I just want you to read, explore, and think about this topic. The topic is that Barack Hussein Obama may be the Antichrist. He is a charismatic leader many are looking to as a messiah, and comparing to Jesus. Read your bibles, pray, prepare yourself. You do not have to believe me, I am not completely sure, but what you can do is watch and listen and pay attention. Read the Bible, I found a website that has a Biblical explanation, and interpretation, baseds strictly on quoting scripture that explains the Antichrist and end of times, take it as an interpetation. I don’t think anyone understands the Bible 100% http://www.biblicist.org/prophecy/6TheAnti-Christ.htm

    Uh hunh……

Hmmm…..he doesn’t think anyone understands the Bible 100%………yeh well……I don’t understand the Bible even 1% (it’s ALL a huge violent comic book to me…..why not base a religious system on “The Lord of the Rings”….it’s more fun and makes every bit as much sense…) but even with that less than 1% understanding of the Bible I STILL have the good sense to know Obama ain’t the frigging Anti-Christ…..you mouth-breathing bridge troll!

Ok, to bring it back to reality for a second…..obviously the McCain people are working this angle as a way to get some more votes from that community, and some bloggers and others that support our current Dark Ages governmental mentality and would like to see it continue are playing along.

So it’s really a DEEPLY cynical and incredibly patronizing manipulation of a group of people who McCain and his people think are SO dumb that they think the best way to eat peas is with a knife….

Before I forget, here’s the CNN report that first made me aware of this raging foolishness -

And just for fun, here’s the Google Search they mention, and then here’s the search on YouTube for more Crazy F**king Idiots Who think Obama is the Anti-Christ. Or don’t in some cases.

And yes I know I’m helping them get their message out, but I look at it more as dragging drooling Bridge Trolls out into the sunlight so everyone can see what they are, and tell them to go take a bath or something cause yeesh man….what IS that SMELL?

Here’s my fave YouTube on this subject (so far, there’s some great stuff there)….yeh hit that bong again boys….I remember many drug addled speed raps like this in my youth…well ok, I don’t really REMEMBER them to be entirely accurate, but I KNOW they happened….fer sure dude…..

And here’s one of my fave links against all this idiotic muttering, awesome answer guys!

And you think you live in America……isn’t that cute…

    August 15th, 2008

Today in my daily tea-drinking/investigate-the-world’s-surprises morning ritual I came across this video showing the Denver Sheriff’s Dept.’s facility they’re planning on using for the upcoming Democratic National Convention. To keep arrested protesters in, that is.

Something to note - The protesters have a constitutional RIGHT TO PROTEST. From the Florida ACLU Website -

It is probably no accident that freedom of speech is the first freedom mentioned in the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The Constitution’s framers believed that freedom of inquiry and liberty of expression were the hallmarks of a democratic society.

The way they get around this is by changing the definition of “peaceful” into basically standing silently in these walled off FREE SPEECH ZONES and anything else they do outside of that gets them gassed, beaten and arrested.

From the FREE SPEECH ZONES link above -

Free speech zones have been used at a variety of political gatherings. The stated purpose of free speech zones is to protect the safety of those attending the political gathering, or for the safety of the protesters themselves. Critics, however, suggest that such zones are “Orwellian”,[1][2] and that authorities use them in a heavy-handed manner to censor protesters by putting them literally out of sight of the mass media, hence the public, as well as visiting dignitaries. Though authorities generally deny specifically targeting protesters, on a number of occasions, these denials have been contradicted by subsequent court testimony. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed, with various degrees of success and failure, a number of lawsuits on the issue.

The level of intimidation, control, and eventual deterrence inherent in the construction and use of such facilities speaks quite loudly to the idea that Free Speech is “free” only to those that can pay for it, and only if it’s sanctioned by the Corporate Controlled Government.

I’m disgusted that the takeover manifests itself in this way. While obviously NOT the worst trait of the takeover, it’s one of the most flagrantly Anti-American ways that Power demonstrates it’s power, and it’s crude mechanisms of control and silencing dissent speak to almost barbaric levels of criminality and arrogance.

I can’t understand why so many people in this country allow and even agree with these tactics. They call themselves Americans but they’re not willing support even the most basic and powerful concepts that DEFINE what America is, (assuming you agree the Constitution is a good and powerful document on which to base a country’s government. If you don’t think it is, well, it’s good for you that the Constitution protects your right to think the Constitution sucks), and instead enable things like this to occur.

So before I completely freakout, here’s the report on this Denver Cage Facility

Why giving this much power away without oversight is bad.

    August 12th, 2008

Watch this, and then understand that part of why these cops act like this is the sense that they are becoming THE power, and are not beholden to it. This kind of thing is what we’ll see more and more of as the rights of citizens are taken away and the oversight mechanisms taken down and we get more and more very poorly trained yet quite powerful in their sphere people dealing with the public. It’s inevitable and has been shown time and time and time again in history.

I’m not saying that this was a political attack by the way, nor am I saying that this kind of thing doesn’t happen quite a bit, it does (sadly), I’m saying that this kind of abuse will become more commonplace if these wild changes to our security procedures continue to be farmed out to private corporations who have NO motive to hire professionals who are well trained and have civilian oversight. And even then, these cops are pretty well trained people in general, yet look what they do. It’s nuts to think that your average McDonalds hiring reject isn’t going to start doing this kind of stuff, just silly…..

Link to the video, (it’s got a coupla REALLY bad moments, be warned!).

Voted for Bush? Then man up and own it. Seriously.

    August 12th, 2008

Ok, I’ve had it with this crap.

If you voted for Bush, it’s time stop it now, you can’t hide from it, you can’t explain it away, you can’t avoid the truth…..IT’S GONE TO SHIT RIGHT IN YOUR FACE, and it’s no one’s fault but your own!

    Period.

You folks are always talking about personal responsibility, well take some now, because this one’s on YOU. We didn’t vote this guy in, (of course, you have to factor in the election farce that the Supreme Court pulled on us, he probably WASN’T actually voted in, but somebody got him close enough to pull it off) YOU FOLKS DID, and you need to stop running around that truth.

Clinton didn’t do this (though he was FAR from the perfect president, I’ll agree with you on that one), the liberal media (now THERE’S a giant pile of bull, the media couldn’t be more right and right center if they were paid to be….oh wait….) didn’t do this - in fact they stood by and watched with their hands in their pockets while this whole mess grew into the malignant cancer we’ve now got to have radical surgery to cure, (and the prognosis isn’t great….).

I’ll also admit the Democrats didn’t do much to stop this, but then again I’ve never been one to make a distinction between Democrats and Republicans….as far as I can tell they are both taking HUGE sums of money from the institutions that are the real root of the problem - the giant corporations who have essentially taken control of our government…..

Let’s remember, it’s OUR government, not an extension of Corporate Will, (although it’s becoming de facto that it is indeed just that), but it’s only ours if we decide to participate in it.

Democracy only works when people are interested and educated about the present world, (something that has been disappearing as the corporate media downsizes all news and expands further and further into cheap and easy opinion and hysterical shrieking about non-issues that make people’s blood boil for 30 seconds until the next hysterically shrieking voice grabs their attention and they begin to lose focus and become exhausted and demoralized by everything they think they’re supposed to give a damn about) and then they DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! A leadership body tends to respond to the voices they hear the most, and nowadays the voices they hear the most are the ones that are paid 24/7/365 to be in their faces screaming, and that is the corporate army of lawyers, lobbyists and congressional aides that have been placed in Washington to make sure their voice is louder than the People’s could ever be.

When Bush crept into the the back door of the White House at midnight on a dark and moonless night, I was extremely vocal about what I thought he was going to do, and the reaction I got from people on the Right was profound and vicious in the extreme. But nothing compared to what happened after 9/11, I began to predict and speak out about the very things that have now (after these intervening years) come to pass……and WOW!

The backlash I received in those times was to some degree understandable, people were scared, they wanted everyone on board to protect us, they couldn’t believe such a thing could happen in their nice neat lives, and anyone who wasn’t totally on board was scary and hard to understand….I get that.

But the intensity of hate, the anger and fear, the threats and the insults, the censoring and deletion of website profiles/posts/comments, the emails, the taunts at gigs, the phone calls….etc etc etc…..I made people very scared/angry/abusive with my thoughts and words, and that made them nasty. VERY NASTY indeed…..

But now, after all that has come to light, and everything that has changed about America and it’s place in the world, the revelations of criminality, the lies, the manipulations to and of War, the gigantic failures of Katrina/Iraq/our economy/the the vicious polarization of the “United” States, the blatant re-writing of the Constitution, the ignoring of all laws inconvenient to total presidential takeover, after all these things why keep behaving like this? Why the anger, why the continued hate and vilification, why NOT admit you just plain got it wrong?

You were wrong, that’s all. It happens……

Yeh, maybe in the long term this is going to go down as the biggest fuckup that could ever be made in human history, yeh maybe the fallout from this could possibly mean the end of real democracy not only in this country but in the world for the foreseeable future, and yeh it could mean that the planet is going to punish us big time for our transgressions…..all that could be true.

But still, it’s just a mistake, that’s all. So why not just man up and admit it? Apologize for the mess, and start cleaning it up, like any grownup would do?

I think I have the answer.

It’s about taking personal responsibility for the way they have treated people. They know that if they admit they were wrong, that would mean they would have to accept responsibility for the way they treated people who disagreed with them, the extreme and horrendous ways that they abused their fellow countrymen and others, all because those countrymen simply exercised their right, even responsibility, to speak out. Speak out against that which it has since been proven, we had right.

These folks can’t accept that they were simply WAY out of line, and they can’t admit they were and are still wrong because of it. The treatment they dished out was extreme and inexcusable, and they don’t want to have to “take it back”, because of what it will say about them as people.

It will say that they are capable of being wrong on such a scale that it would call into question every choice they ever make in the future. It will say that they can be ruled by their emotions, not logic and the facts. Worst of all it will say that they are the kind of people who can be scared into becoming part of the lynch mob, that they are capable of being the ones throwing the stones at the children till they are dead, that they will punish innocence when it disagrees, and that they can do all this while being dead wrong.

That’s a hard place to find one’s self in, I’ll admit. I’m glad I’m not there. But I’m where I am because of my choices, and they are where they are because of theirs.

So what about personal responsibility now? Should there be retribution on some level, some kind of responding punishment that equals what they have done……or something different?

For me, I’d like to pursue a different path. I’d like to forgive and move forward with my countrymen and the world, I’d like to learn from this and allow others to do the same….nothing teaches like being wrong and then finding out that you’ll have to reassess things you truly believed in, but more importantly, nothing teaches like having to say you’re sorry.

But I have a condition. You WILL have to say you’re sorry.

You have behaved poorly, and you need to face it. I won’t rub your face in it, I won’t hold it up in your face for the rest of your life, but you need to own it. Then we can agree to disagree sometimes, and we can move forward to solutions, and maybe we can pull back from the edge, maybe. It will take all of us to pull it off if we are to succeed.

I’d like to forgive you….and maybe you need to forgive yourselves as well.

ARTISTS/BANDS CHECK THIS OUT - MySpace can bite MyAss

    August 9th, 2008

Ok, I’ve had it with this lame-o MySpace thing. It’s been great for getting together with old friends etc, but aside from that the site is broken half the time, has no really serious tools for artists, and is basically full of bands clamoring for each other’s attention as though that will do any damn good, and a LOT of them just plain SUCK.

There, I’ve said it, we all know it’s true.

I can’t keep waiting for them to get it together, and in the meantime I’ve found a GREAT site that works extremely well for both the artists and the people who like them, called ReverbNation.

This site has REALLY great tools for working on your career instead of your website all the time, (and let’s face it, yeh I can build websites and have even done for money but there’s no way I can compete with a fully funded staff of serious thoughtful pros, and why WOULD I?), respects the listener’s privacy, and makes it really easy to do what I need to do online without spending gobs of time on it….I couldn’t be more pleased with it.

No I don’t work for them, nor do I know them, I just recommend things I think rule, this does.

I hope you’ll go by and check it out, maybe even sign into my part of the site if you like, but in any case, if you’re an artist you MUST have a look and see if it doesn’t make sense to you, I think it will……..

The funniest thing I’ve read for awhile -

    August 8th, 2008

    Here.

    “Ain’t Nobody” for sale!

    August 2nd, 2008

I’ve put together a sales site for “Ain’t Nobody” in case anyone feels they’d like to buy a copy. It’s in this widget below -

which is a store called Nimbit that seems to do it right. I can’t set it any lower than .49 cents, so I set it at .50 so I wouldn’t have to deal with 80% of a penny….I hate pennies…..

Anyway, this copy is as final as I think it’s gonna get, it’s been rounded out with small bit of mastering type compression and it sounds really good, I’m very pleased with the results, plus it’ll play in a car a little better than the last one.

If you’re of a mind, you can also add the widget to any page you’d like, just click the double-arrow symbol in the upper left and it will tell you how to do it on a regular page and on a MySpace page.

I gotta say, I LOVE this democratization of the whole “business” part of the biz, these things are great for those of us outside the major label system (almost everyone these days), but without huge sums of money to put our stuff out there……and yeh, it would be nice to recoup a bit of the expenses now and then….I’m not expecting to pay my mortgage, but every little bit helps.

It probably seems like a lot of effort for 1 song, but I’m learning about all these newer tools and although it takes some time to go around and figure out what’s best for me (and you) and then how to implement it (you would not believe all the little details you have to know and get in order, it’s NUTZ) but once you get it together it functions quite well and gets a lot easier.

I’m doing all this because I have a bunch of stuff in the pipeline and I need to have this all in place for all that….I’m gonna put this other thing up in a bit that is so NOT me you won’t believe it, kinda like the Alabama 3 theme song for the “Sopranos” actually, or a cross of that and Blondie’s “Rapture” and some Prince thrown in…..bet you didn’t know that as a bass player, next to things like Doobie Brothers and Led Zeppelin the strongest influence I felt was funk type stuff like George Duke and Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke etc etc….I was a serious jazz fusion guy for several years…I was even the token white guy in a band in Alaska that played ONLY stuff like Marvin Gaye and Dazz band and so on, I had a BLAST in that band, groove for days….

So there you go, gimme a shout and lemme know what you think….now…

    WB

Now they can steal your laptop, phone etc….

    August 1st, 2008

As if it wasn’t bad enough already, now they can outright STEAL what may be the most important piece of gear you own, your computer, and anything else you might be carrying with you - ALL WITHOUT ANY REASON AT ALL!!!

    Wow.

Science Fiction comes to life before our eyes……

I mean fine, if there’s some reason to suspect someone, then by all means give them a good looking over, but just because?

And what does that become in the hands of the people who man those security points…I mean…..have you been through one of those things? It’s the people that McDonalds won’t hire for chrissakes, not people who clearly have experience and the training needed to truly know what to look for, and maybe have even seen it before….

These people with this kind of freedom will do things to people based on god knows what basis like - “he looks like the guy who stole my lunch money in 5th grade”, (or maybe he IS that guy), or in my case “I don’t like musicians, they’re liberal commies”, or “I’d like to get THAT girl in a small room in the back for 5 minutes”, or the old “I do whatever the hell they feel like” reason.

And you can’t do a thing about it. So they take your laptop with everything on it, they keep it as long as they like, maybe forever, and that’s it. No compensation, no getting it back so your life can go on as scheduled, nothing, just a big hole where your info/time/money/contacts/etc etc etc used to be.

Yeah, you have it backed up (you do don’t you?), but what about all the private info, emails, secure (you thought) logins, anything that you wouldn’t want a TOTAL STRANGER going through? And they will go through it.

This is SOOOOO gross…..those fat, clammy old-sweat covered touching themselves in the bathroom in back hands all over my personal DATA?!?!?

    EWWWWWWWW!!!!

And what’s even grosser is the regular people who DEFEND this kind of thing, either out of maliciousness, or even worse blind raging stupid obedience to ideas they don’t even grasp….

I keep saying this - what makes everyone so sure that the powers that be in this administration and their controllers in the corporations are going to let an election and the possible rollback of these transgression occur?

It’s becoming a big concern to me, if you were them, would YOU let that happen?

There’s a LOT of money being made on very shaky premises, but it’s still a LOT of money….if it was you would you let that stop? Would YOU give up all that control, if you were in their place?

If I was them and thought like they do, I sure as hell wouldn’t.

    A day in the news…

    July 31st, 2008

In going through some of the news today, here’s some of the things I noticed….

  • A guy cuts another guy’s head off in a bus
  • To Provoke War, Cheney Considered Proposal To Dress Up Navy Seals As Iranians And Shoot At Them
  • Exxon Mobil has biggest profit ever at $11.68B
  • Alaska’s governor being investigated, too
  • etc etc etc…..

Now I’ll admit to a fairly far left perspective on many if not most things (if it’s for the people, I’m for it, but if it’s against people and pro-corporations, I’m likely to have issues with it…and as a general rule most things this administration does are VERY pro corporation, including an entire war for them….another story though….) but that doesn’t mean that this stuff isn’t valid, it just means I tend to notice it and be upset by it more.

In the hope that things will be different soon, though I tend to think people are WAY overestimating Obama’s interest in “change”.

Talking Points did you really even wonder about this?

    July 28th, 2008

So now it’s confirmed, Fox News should be disbarred or whatever they do to people that call themselves News and aren’t…

Did anyone really think this wasn’t true….EVER?

Nine GREAT reasons to pursue impeachment….

    July 20th, 2008

In an article in The Nation

Establishing accountability for US war crimes in the Iraq war era is the sine qua non for initiating a new era on different principles. Here are nine reasons why we must not let bygones be bygones:

    1. World peace cannot be achieved without human rights and accountability.

According to Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson, chief American prosecutor at the Nuremberg Tribunals, “The ultimate step in avoiding periodic wars, which are inevitable in a system of international lawlessness, is to make statesmen responsible to law.” Moving in that direction will be impossible unless such responsibility applies to the statesmen of the world’s most powerful countries, and above all the world’s sole superpower. US support for the war crimes charges like those just brought by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir will represent little more than hypocrisy if US Presidents are not held to the same standard.

    2. The rule of law is central to our democracy.

Most Americans believe that even the highest officials are bound by law. If we send mentally-disabled juveniles to prison as adults, but let government officials who authorize torture and launch illegal wars go scot-free, we destroy the very basis of the rule of law.

    3. We must not allow precedents to be set that promote war crimes.

Executive action unchallenged by Congress changes the way our law is interpreted. According to Robert Borosage, writing for Huffington Post, “If Bush’s extreme assertions of power are not challenged by the Congress, they end up not simply creating new law, they could end up rewriting the Constitution itself.”

    4. We must restore the principles of democracy to our government.

The claim that the President, as commander-in-chief, can exercise the unlimited powers of a king or dictator strikes at the very heart of our democracy. As Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson put it, we, as citizens, would “submit ourselves to rules only if under rules.” Countries like Chile can attest that the restoration of democracy and the rule of law requires more than voting a new party into office–it requires a rejection of impunity for the criminal acts of government officials.

    5. We must forestall an imperialist resurgence.

When they are out of office, the advocates of imperial expansion and global domination have proven brilliant at lying in wait to undermine and destroy their opponents.

They did it to destroy the presidencies of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. They’ll do it again to an Obama Administration unless their machinations are exposed and discredited first.

    6. We must have national consensus on the real reasons for the Bush Administration’s failures.

Republicans are preparing to dominate future decades of American politics by blaming the failure of the Iraq war on those who “sent a signal” that the US would not “stay the course” whatever the cost. Establishing the real reasons for the failure of the US in Iraq–the criminal and anti-democratic character of the war–is the necessary condition for defeating that effort.

    7. We must restore America’s damaged reputation abroad.

The world has watched as the United States–the self-proclaimed steward of democracy–has systematically broken the letter and spirit of its Constitution, violated international treaties, and ignored basic moral tenets of humanity. As former Navy General Counsel Alberto Mora recently pointed out to the Senate Armed Services Committee, our nation’s “policy of cruelty” has violated our “overarching foreign policy interests and our national security.” To establish international legitimacy, we must demonstrate that we are capable of holding our leaders to account.

    8. We must lay the basis for major change in US foreign policy.

Real security in the era of global warming and nuclear proliferation must be based on international cooperation. But genuine cooperation requires that the US entirely repudiate the course of the past eight years. The American people must understand why international cooperation rather than pursuit of global domination is necessary to their own security. And other countries must be convinced that we really mean it.

    9. We must deter future US war crimes.

The specter of more war crimes haunts our future. Rumors continue to circulate about an American or American-backed Israeli attack on Iran. A recently introduced House resolution promoted by AIPAC “demands” that the President initiate what is effectively a blockade against Iran–an act seen by some as tantamount to a declaration of war. Nothing could provide a greater deterrent to such future war crimes than establishing accountability for those of the past.

Holding war criminals accountable will require placing the long-term well-being of our country and the world ahead of short-term political advantage. As Rep. Wexler put it, “We owe it to the American people and history to pursue the wrongdoing of this Administration whether or not it helps us politically or in the next election. Our actions will properly define the Bush Administration in the eyes of history and that is the true test.”

    Kucinich gets it right….again….

    July 8th, 2008

So the Democratic leadership feels that almost ANY price is worth it to get the elections right this fall, which I guess I ultimately agree with, but since there’s almost no chance that McCain could get elected (barring MASSIVE fraud which is always possible these days, or a “terrorist attack” (yeh right) as I postulate in another post earlier) I can’t find any reason not to go after the most corrupt and heinous administration EVER in our history.

As far as I can see, we have exactly 2 serious patriots (or even just sensible people) in our government - Conyers and Kucinich. And both of them are being shunned by the rest of the Demorepubs for doing so, when it’s CLEARLY what the Founding Fathers, (as well as common sense) called for.

Before I get really pissed again, here’s Kuchinich’s speech on the 4th of July…..yay for the littlest guy with the biggest balls!!

    More Obama FISA Olbermann!

    July 1st, 2008

So my current media hero Keith Olbermann just had an excellent rant about Obama and the FISA amendment that I hope you’ll take a look at…I couldn’t agree with Olbermann more, and I think I see some daylight here for once!

    Obama stuff

    June 22nd, 2008

Earlier today I posted a Status Update on MySpace that I wouldn’t vote for Obama if he supports this ridiculous so called “compromise” on the FISA thing, specifically because of the amnesty for the crimes that were already committed by the Administration and the telecom businesses.

I received a comment on my comments section of my MySpace profile which read -

“so now you know…and i posted a bulletin as well - i have been a political activist for years, but this election has me working frantically against the party i’ve voted with for years…if this man had been born in america and taught traditional american values, i would have no problem voting for him…but thats not the case at all!!”

That comment is still up and I will leave it there unless the other party wants it taken down for some reason, but I’d like to continue this discussion here so it’s easier to follow and doesn’t muck up my profile page too much.

Now instead of just banging away at this point of view without the other party knowing it, I’m going to invite that person to go to that page and discuss this, since it seems some of their info may be wrong and I’d like to understand why they think what they do.

I responded there, I invite your comments and of course hope the original poster will respond there as well. Please refrain from personal attacks no matter how much something bothers you….I’ve found that almost all people have some reason for thinking what they do, and not all of them are horrible and selfish, but it takes being cool and listening to see what it may be.

    “Ain’t Nobody” final…?

It’s funny how you can go round and round about the simplest things, and at the end of it all realize that you didn’t really need to make it all THAT much “better”….

I’ve been trying for the perfect combination of things on my song “Ain’t Nobody”, having great players play on it, trying to replace parts etc etc….and I found that what I was looking for was not perfect, not awesome, but just lonely. That and just letting it be what it was when I wrote it - simple, clean, uncluttered, warts and all. There’s some things that aren’t perfect, but when I went back and made them perfect, they weren’t anymore. Being that I’m a great believer in “musical” as opposed to “right”, I put them back the way they were and found I was much happier.

In the end I played a little slide guitar, and edited down some friend’s parts to get to something that I really feel does it right…..keeping Stuart Mathis’ big open baritone guitar chords on the verses (you can check out Stuart’s new CD that I played a bunch of bass on), and Cary Park’s mandolin parts that sorta noodle in and out (Cary is doing his new CD as well, and was in Boy Howdy).

I’m pretty pleased with it, and although it could probably use a really great mix engineer to come in and really put the “magic dust” on it, it’s very satisfying to me now….

So what do you think? I hope you’ll take a listen and then read further down the page for some help you could give me. Here’s the original -

And here’s the final version -

I’d love to hear your thoughts….

So here’s how you can help me….I have a page at ReverbNation, a site that is REALLY well set up for musicians (BTW - if YOU are a musician and decide to use them, I think it’s good for me if you say I referred you, another way to help!), and they have a number of things you could do like join as a fan of mine, but the coolest thing would be to go about halfway down the page to a bunch of tabs, one of which is “Widgets”. Hit that and it will take you to a whole bunch of widgets that you can put on almost any webpage, and it will generate the code for you, so all you do is cut and paste it into your site/blog/MySpacePage/Facebook/emails….wherever you like. That would be a big help….

Feature me on your MySpace page…..if you have one, you could go to my page there at http://www.myspace.com/therealstill and grab one of my songs to add to your profile….you just click add on the music player and it will do it for you..pretty slick. That way people will hear it when they go to your page….so that’s helpful too!

Shortly I’m gonna have a link here to BUY the song if you like, which isn’t much different than the next idea, but I’m setting up my own store so that I can refer people to that instead of just iTunes etc, all of which take a big bite outta the money, and as I said, I can use every bit of that…..

Since you’re here, that means that farther down the page I’m gonna give you a direct link to a high resolution version of this song FREE! But if…..you’re of a mind to send some money my way, here’s a way to donate whatever you like to the cause….I don’t require your money, but it’s always welcome to feed my music habit….

So here’s the link to the file, feel free to spread it around, I hope it brings good moments to you when you hear it, it was a joy to put together!
